Work Summary
The candidates filling this Applications Systems Analyst - Senior positions will be responsible for gathering requirements from the business test programs concerning test questions, test data, scoring data, and statistical analysis data sufficient to enable data migration from older platforms to current platforms. The candidate would interface with test program business staff, test development staff, statisticians, and several IT areas to consolidate and define migration requirements, assist in the configuration and set up of migrated data, and support testing of migrated data from initial beta testing through production deployment. The candidate would be required to quickly obtain knowledge of the entire corporate platform on which test programs are being migrated to support ongoing beta testing and migration of test programs from old systems to the new SAADI platform (the SAADI application platform consists of the suite of applications that support item banking, test assembly, test publishing, item and test scoring, and item and test statistical analyses. The application names that make up the SAADI platform are IBIS item banking, eSKM - scoring, and GENASYS II statistical analyses). The candidate would use, refine, and update requirements documents to increase the efficiency of SAADI migrations and beta testing. The candidate would be expected to learn the basic use of the SAADI applications to be able to document and support the migration process. The candidate would use, refine, and update requirements documents to increase the efficiency of migrations, testing, and production deployment. Special emphasis will be placed on the ability to lead the effort to synthesize, restructure, and consolidate existing requirements documents and to lead the effort to refine and enhance requirements gathering processes. Expert use of MS office suite is critical for this role. The candidate would be expected to have experience in leading small project groups through requirements gathering discussions and meetings, create meeting agendas, conduct meetings, track topics that need resolution and follow up, develop small scale schedules, interface and coordinate with larger scheduling efforts, interact directly with the Director and other project managers to coordinate and communicate progress.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
Leading the effort to organize and refine the existing set of requirements documents that are used for the SAADI migration process.
Gathering requirements from test programs concerning required test question, test, scoring, and statistical analysis data sufficient to enable configuration of this data on the SAADI application.
Interfacing with test program business staff, assessment/test development staff, statisticians, and IT areas to consolidate and define migration requirements.
Assisting in the configuration and set up of migration data on the SAADI platform.
Identifying and resolving solutions to data, configuration, and software defects related to migration data set up and testing. This would include debugging issues by understanding and using XML, SQL, proprietary UIs, Microsoft office suite, Soap UI, Silk Central, Power Designer, SQL Developer, and working in Windows, Oracle and Java IDEs and related environments.
Working with business area staff and other internal and external areas in testing and validating migrated data during beta testing, user acceptance, and operational trial phases of the migration process.
Obtaining the knowledge and use of the entire SAADI suite of applications to support ongoing beta testing and migration of test programs data from old systems to the SAADI platform.
Leading small project groups through requirements gathering discussions and meetings, creating meeting agendas, conducting meetings, tracking topics that need resolution and follow up, developing small scale schedules, interfacing e and coordinating with larger scheduling efforts, interacting directly with the Director and other project managers to coordinate and communicate progress.
Experience
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a high level of progressive business analysis, systems analysis, and technical facility across disparate systems and platforms. Since the job role requires hands on use of applications, the candidate must demonstrate a strong ability to learn new, complex applications and application interactions. The candidate must have had at least 6 years of business and systems analysis, be versed in a variety of systems and business analyses and diagramming methods and applications, e.g., UML, OO, Powerdesigner, etc. A high level of expertise in the use all MS Office products is required. A high level of expertise in leading project teams, developing schedules, tracking issues, and monitoring work across many work areas is required.
The candidate must demonstrate a high level of skill in these areas:
Strong work relationship building and communication skills.
Well-developed team-oriented approach to meeting the needs of IT s internal business partners.
Experience working in technology projects that effectively use a range of project planning tools and techniques
Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.
Knowledge and use of XML.
Knowledge and use of SQL, Oracle DB tools, or TOAD, or other db application tools.
Action and detail orientation, ability to oversee a large number of priorities/projects simultaneously
The following skills and abilities are highly desirable:
Familiarity with company testing programs
Familiarity with company platforms: XPP, TCS, SKM, Gen I, IBIS, eSKM and Genasys II platforms
Familiarity with company Assessment Development and Statistical Analysis
Familiarity of company Reference Architecture technologies (Java, JEE, JSF, Rich Faces, Spring, Seam, XML, Hibernate, JBoss, Linux, XHTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Apache, AJAX, Hibernate and SOAP.)
Working familiarity of database administration concepts and organization techniques
Working familiarity of data administration concepts and organization techniques, experience with relational database platforms and tools (ORACLE, MS-SQL Server, and DB2).
Data modeling and design and develop database objects
Multiple hardware platforms and operating systems (Linux, Windows, Novell)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Basic Qualifications:
1. 6+ years of progressive business and systems analysis
2. 6+ years of leading small work groups through requirements gathering, data set up, testing activities
Education
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree, with coursework in the information processing or business-related curricula, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
