The Environment, Health and Safety & Security (EHS&S) Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining compliance with all John Crane, Smiths Group, and regulatory objectives, policies, and requirements for the Morton Grove facility. As a member of the EHS team, the EHS&S Technician will directly contribute to the creation of a world class safety environment, assist in the reduction of environmental impacts associated with site operations, and utilize modern techniques to enhance security programs to ensure a safe environment for our employees, contractors and visitors within the Morton Grove facility. This position reports directly to the EHS Coordinator.
Evaluate current EHS&S programs and activities to ensure compliance with all government agencies and related regulations.
Report, monitor, and correct environmental, health, and safety & security problems/issues.
Guide and promote safe work performance by developing proactive EHS&S systems, policies, and procedures; develop EHS&S campaigns, communications, and recognitions in line with Division strategies.
Conduct or arrange to have conducted training for all employees.
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of John Crane, Smiths Group, and regulatory EHS&S policies, standards, guidelines and programs to meet the overall improvement strategy
Assist in achieving John Crane and Division environmental, safety and security goals.
Support EHS&S continuous improvement activities.
Perform internal EHS&S audits.
Conduct industrial hygiene assessments.
Maintain a PPE program.
Manage the CCTV and access control system & coordinate maintenance as required.
Gather, organize and maintain EHS&S records.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Sciences or related technical discipline is required.
Requires 1 to 3 years of related work experience.
Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations and requirements (EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.).
Must have the skill and ability to conduct and/or support sensitive investigations involving company personnel, assets and/or proprietary information
Familiarity with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 EHS management systems preferred.
Experience in manufacturing and the oil, gas, or petrochemical industries is preferred.
Knowledgeable in the technical fundamentals of safety management and risk assessments and reduction, including machinery and process safety, ergonomics, and occupational health.
Excellent presentation and training skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment while managing multiple assignments with strict deadlines.
Skilled at using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
This position will reside in Morton Grove.
