The Repository has an opening for a Colony Planner/Senior Colony Planner. We are seeking self-motivated individuals with in-depth understanding of mouse breeding, genetics, reproductive biology, and husbandry to develop cost effective colony management solutions to address customer’s needs and increase operational efficiencies. This position works closely with Repository Operation managers, Customer Service representatives and Customer Support, to ensure that product information is accurate and that colonies are appropriately sized to support demand and utilize facility capacity.
Evaluate current colony sizes, recommend adjustments, predict colony growth and suggest strain movement, based on health status constraints, cost implications, and/or customer-specific needs
Design and maintain complex reporting methods to support day to day decision making, to evaluate overall strain performance/management, to ensure appropriate supply and demand, and to meet customers’ needs
Participate in and/or lead projects that have significant operational impact/effect on the entire organization as well as improve the customer experience

Knowledge of animal husbandry, Mendelian genetics and colony management as would normally be acquired by a Bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry or genetics, or over five years of applicable work experience
Successful completion of Genetics I and II
Written communication skills sufficient to produce meaningful and coherent reports summarizing Repository activities/operations and effective oral communication skills to express observations and recommendations, clearly and persuasively, to multi-level audiences, are essential.
Advanced level skills with Microsoft Office applications, including ability to create, update, manipulate and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets is required.
Strong problem solving abilities, organizational skills, and capability to multi-task under tight deadlines are essential.
Must be a proven positive team player.
