This position will generally take instruction from more senior personnel. A partial list of activities includes the following:
Handling of waste and scrap materials
Move barrels of waste and scrap to warehouse; bring empty barrels from warehouse and affix proper labeling for use as waste/scrap collection
Sort valuable scrap for reclaim
Handling of manufacturing materials
Send out parts for cleaning and receive back
Locate and transport materials coming in from the warehouse to the lab
Includes tracking of materials in MES (software system), and other software systems such as Excel spreadsheets
Responsibility for storage containers
Keep our inventory of jars, bottles, and buckets clean and organized
Strip labels off of incoming containers (e.g., buckets, boxes, etc.) as required before re-use or disposal
Moving targets and target crates around the lab or to/from the warehouse, and to/from the scanner
Work with outside vendors to procure parts and services, or to have existing parts reworked
Track and maintain inventory of spare parts, including procuring parts needed to maintain inventory following min/max guidelines
Operation of various laboratory and machine shop tools and equipment
Trip to local business (e.g., Home Depot, Olander) to pick up parts
Keep the lab clean, including periodic cleaning of equipment and exposed surfaces
Occasional light construction in the lab
This position will have a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities associated with it, so the successful candidate should be willing and able to perform many different types of work, and to multi-task effectively. Success will largely depend on a proactive approach, good communication, and a positive attitude.
Occasional overtime hours may be needed. The individual will be required to work in an environment requiring adherence to safety and dress standards, including but not limited to safety shoes, safety glasses, latex gloves, PAPR, ear plugs, etc. as appropriate. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Physical requirements include manual dexterity, good hand-eye coordination, able to lift, bend, crawl, pull, reach, walk, hear and talk.
