The Associate Director, Academic and Diversity Relations is responsible for development and execution of a short and long range diversity, campus and MBA/MRP (Management Rotation Program) recruiting strategy across the US. This role will focus on acquiring external talent for the Management Rotation Program, internal movement and sourcing a diverse pipeline of talent across Boehringer Ingelheim in the US.

The position is accountable for developing and maintaining relationships with university placement offices and faculty, and leading all recruiting activities for MRP (Management Rotation Program) and Summer Internship Program. This position is responsible for developing a sustainable relationship with universities, and professional associations reinforcing BI employer brand image and facilitating company contact with a diverse external talent pipeline. The position will also have a matrix reporting structure to the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer for Boehringer Ingelheim USA.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Manages BI’s Management Rotation Program: Hires 5-10 Management Rotation Associates and several MBA interns each year. Works closely with business leaders to evaluate and determine which core schools to recruit from and what the recruiting strategy will entail.

Manages all BI hosted events, open houses and corporate presentations and on-campus interviews at all universities. Manages the recruitment and campus preparation for all the leaders and current/former MRPs that are campus ambassadors each fall.

Supports the TA/ODI&E strategy in developing and maintaining robust relationships with different academic organizations and professional associations in order to explore all possible avenues of collaboration. Further develops the academic landscape outside the traditional schools looking for innovative groups that might create new partnership opportunities for BI (talent – research - BI leadership development).

Incorporates Unconscious Bias training in how we are attracting talent into the organization.

Partners with the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement in developing BI network among organizations that promote Diversity and have established relationships in the health care space for all talent, including alumni associations, student groups, community groups. Identifies external partners and diversity events (global, national, regional and local)resulting in on-going sources of diverse pipeline of talent.

This role will require significant negotiating and influencing skills in dealing with sponsorship levels with various diversity organizations and will partner with TMP Worldwide on strategy.

Responsible for Relationship Management for various organizations to include but not limited to: (i.e. INROADS, ALPFA, ASEND,NBMBAA Regional & National, Out & Equal, NSHMBA, Wounded Warrier Project, Recruiting People with Disabilities, etc)

Partners with PAC (Public Affairs and Corporate Communications) to develop and enhance our corporate presentation and collateral. Partner, train and manage our Pinstripe recruiters and Talent Acquisition Coordinators supporting all campus, intern and diversity initiatives and activities. Participate and provide input on EVP (Employee Value Proposition) to align with academic and diversity recruiting strategy.

Manages domestic and international college internship programs, including establishing program requirements, program design/guidelines and processes for all program activities. Assesses validity and feasibility of internship. Partners with INROADS organization to attract and hire diverse interns. Also manages the High School internship programs. Oversees the recruitment, interviewing and selection of interns and scholarship recipients. Partners with the business on requests for program design and implementation. Coordinates donations to specified colleges and universities. • Responsible for managing all intern on-boarding activities, including coordination of Orientation materials and program. Facilitate program surveys to solicit feedback.

Proactively provides/implements policy/process recommendations for improvements and cost savings. Manages overall statistics and diversity metrics for all recruiting efforts. Creates candidate pipeline tracking to capture candidate data, source and status in Taleo.

Performs all Company business in accordance with all regulations (e.g. EEO, FDA, OSHA, PDMA, EPA, PhRMA, etc.) and Company policies and procedures. When violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management. Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to maintain BIs excellent reputation within the medical and pharmaceutical community.

Bachelor’s Degree with 7-10 years experience. PHR, SPHR or Diversity certification a plus.

Ability to manage and influence senior business leaders

HR and diversity experience preferred.

Public relations / institutional relations / PR experience desired

Previous experience with Taleo and Recsolu is preferred

University recruiting experience, 7-10 years

MBA Recruiting experience required

Previous project and/or event coordination

Experience in development of talent pool attraction strategies and other human capital strategies, specifically targeting new entrants to the workforce across multiple dimensions of diversity—including university relations, HBCU’s and other local community based institutions to acquire talent.

Demonstrated ability to influence, communicate and build relationships at all levels and to link business objectives with the Academic Partnerships Strategy. Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.

Customer service experience with demonstrated ability to effectively assess customers’ needs, quickly respond and problem solve when required following established policies and procedures.

Demonstrated ability to manage projects, develop and deliver applicable training

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills to senior levels of the organization.

Demonstrated attention to detail and analytical skills.

History of successful performance.

Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook and database applications. Applicants tracking, leading solutions experience (ICIM’s, Taleo) preferred.

Proven track record in implementing and impacting change in a major organization

Ability to travel (may include overnight travel).

Ability to conduct a needs assessment and understand the business strategy

Green Belt training a plus, not required

Process driven and results oriented

Ability to deal with ambiguity.

More than 6 years of leadership experience
