This job description represents multiple open positions.
Participate in the Engineering Development Program - a two-year program for entry-level engineers to rotate through several departments focusing on quality projects. Upon completion of the program:
Analysis and problem solving of current quality items including:
Disassembly of units to be evaluated as needed, confirming actual car to design, analysis of parts and body situation via CMM, parts swap, template check or other methods.
Providing feedback to responsible department for countermeasure and implementation of temporary countermeasures.
Hold meetings when multiple departments are involved.
Be creative to get results when "roadblocks" occur, including problem tracking.
New Model development to confirm design, coordinate parts fit with related departments, suppliers and Research & Development.
Problem analysis, part layout and scan using different CMM tools, lead meetings, ountermeasure implementation, past problem history tracking, review and identify problems with incoming steel and/or aluminum.
Minimum of zero to two years experience, or Co-op/Internship experience in manufacturing quality role or in the steel industry.
Demonstrate self starter characteristics and attitude for improving quality.
Proficient in geometry, trigonometry and algebra.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Flexibility in work hours and daily job content.
Ability to work effectively in teams.
Ability to summarize complex analysis results & countermeasure activity.
Demonstrate problem solving, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and countermeasure identification skills.
Basic understanding of plastics/injection molding, welding, stamping and assembly processes.
Knowledge of statistics and Statistical Process Control.
Problem solving in a manufacturing environment.
Strong CAD (preferably CATIA) and blue print reading skills.
CMM experience (preferably Romer/Power Inspect).
Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Material science skills including ability to ensure productivity of the Stamping Operation, including identification and countermeasure.
Use of Material Science knowledge to resolve mechanical equipment problems, such as fatigue and determine the most suitable repair.
Identify issues involving processing of steel and aluminum as received.
Understanding of press mechanical operations
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Material Science Engineering (or related) required.
