The Dean is the academic and administrative leader of the School of Law . The Dean's responsibilities include encouraging and supporting excellence in the faculty's teaching and research, developing sources of outside funding, advocating the School's interests throughout the University, and promoting the recruitment and retention of the most talented students and faculty. The Dean also has responsibility for promoting and representing the law school to key constituencies, cultivating alumni relations, and facilitating interaction between the law school and the legal community.
Detailed Description KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Dean is the academic and administrative leader of the School of Law . The Dean's responsibilities include encouraging and supporting excellence in the faculty's teaching and research, developing sources of outside funding, advocating the School's interests throughout the University, and promoting the recruitment and retention of the most talented students and faculty. The Dean also has responsibility for promoting and representing the law school to key constituencies, cultivating alumni relations, and facilitating interaction between the law school and the legal community.
Job Requirements PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
A candidate for Dean should have an outstanding record, a commitment to academic values including teaching, research, and service, and should possess the skills, background and experience to administer a large law school, lead law faculty, and students, work with external constituencies, and successfully engage in fundraising. Prospective candidates should be committed to the values of shared governance, academic freedom, academic rigor, collegiality, and diversity of personal background and intellectual interests, and should appreciate the characteristics of a university with religious affiliation. A strong academic background is required for consideration, including a Juris Doctorate from an ABA/AALS accredited institution.
