PS International, Ltd, a Seaboard Company, is seeking a Trade Operations Specialist to work in the Sugar trading department in our Chapel Hill office. PS International is an international trading firm that specializes in bulk agricultuaral products. The Trade Operations Specialist will be responsible for assisting commodity traders with the execution of trades from the country of origin to their final destination.
Responsibilities will include the following:

Logistics:

  • Preparation of export documentation for agricultural commodities
  • Preparation of import documentation for agricultural commodities
  • Ensure quality of items being ordered and shipped meet specifications determined by commodity trader responsible for the trade
  • Ensures that documents match what is being delivered
  • Negotiate pricing with third party vendors
  • Coordinate delivery of commodities to the point where customer will take ownership per contract stipulations
  • Ensuring imported goods do not violate any importation regulations in destination country
  • Manage relationships with third party suppliers (both service and commodity)

Accounting:

  • Manage and communicate inventory levels of commodities responsible for to traders and management
  • Preparation of invoices for products and manage Accounts Receivable for relevant customers
  • Coordinate payment of supplier invoices for commodities being purchased
  • Communicate credit terms with traders to ensure compliance per credit line limits in office
  • Accurate data entry into company accounting/tracking system

Customer Relations:

  • Provide customers with samples of products which are being marketed and sold to them
  • Communicate progress of goods delivery to customers on a regular basis
  • Resolve customer issues with regards to claim management (e.g. insurance, quality, shortage, etc.)

Other

  • Train foreign affiliates on trade guidelines for office
  • Prepare presentations to group or management as needed
  • Maintain expertise on industry related legislation related to job functions
  • Backup for other employees within department as needed
  • Train new staff on job functions
  • Limited travel (< 10%)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least one year logistics or related field experience
  • Foreign language skills (Spanish) required
  • MS Office required
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail is required for the position
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with international trade law is helpful
  • Must be able to multitask
