The Senior Marketing Specialist will manage the marketing support for the online development, grassroots fundraising and direct mail efforts, and the promotional marketing strategy of multiple corporate partnership accounts simultaneously, managing activities
within broad USO marketing strategy.
Work with internal USO teams to help formulate and drive overall fundraising and marketing engagement strategy across assigned development areas
Work with and manage outside vendors on production of all campaigns
Assists in maximizing funds raised and increasing support for the awareness of USO in the local community
Focus on cultivating and engaging Team USO members for the purposes of creating an enhanced pipeline of potential donors
Coordinates with Director of Fundraising and direct mail vendor on integration of direct mail appeals evaluating effectiveness of ongoing efforts
Collaborate with other members of the marketing/communications team and development team to create compelling materials designed to engage target audiences and achieve fundraising goals
Assist in the achievement and development of performance metrics including revenue and expense objectives
Manage the campaign-specific testing framework and tactics
Develop feedback on program and campaign performance results
Bachelors Degree in marketing, communications, or related field
Must have a minimum of 4-6 years in nonprofit-focused marketing and/or fundraising
Must have experience in a direct marketing agency environment strongly preferred
Must have the ability to manage strategic change within multichannel marketing programs to meet and exceed goals
Must be comfortable with understanding marketing analytics and ability to participate in discussions around insight and analytics for furthering goals
Must have experience in developing compelling, crisp and effective messaging/writing for development and marketing purposes
Must have the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in cross-departmental and team environments
Must have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task
Must have the ability to respond in a flexible manner to address shifting/changing priorities and needs
Background in military, nonprofit sector and/or media a plus
Some travel for training possible
Must be a strong advocate of the USO’s mission to support active duty military and their families
This position is located in Arlington, VA. Preference will be given to local candidates within commuting distance to the location.
