This role is responsible for the providing leadership to support a team of software development leads and software developers. Provides both technical and nontechnical support to team members to ensure success. Serves as a senior technical expert on assigned applications areas. Responsible for driving the design of application programs and interfaces. Liaises with architects, analysts and other stakeholders to translate detailed specifications into new or enhanced application solutions.

Essential Responsibilities
Demonstrates command of multiple programming languages, basic systems analysis techniques, testing, debugging, documentation standards, file design, storage, and interfacing. Assists in defining, implementing, and maintaining the application-specific blueprints, life-cycle plans, and roadmaps
  • Leadership role responsible for the selection, development, coaching, performance management and compensation administration of a staff of software development. Provides both technical and nontechnical leadership support to the team to ensure success in meeting goals and priorities
  • Anticipates issues, opportunities, and work with team and colleagues to address these
  • Develops and implements team metrics to monitor measure and report results
  • Provide effective change management support to the team and business partners to ensure changes are communicated and implemented effectively
  • Work collaboratively with other IT leaders and staff across Fleet and GECA IT to align the software product to the strategies and plans to meet the business needs
  • Defines detailed functional and technical specifications required to satisfy business requirements for programs, projects, and releases required to satisfy business requirements
  • Communicates design, functional, and technical specifications to developers
  • Provides assistance in solution planning and estimating of programs and projects
  • Assists in estimating tasks, reporting status and completing work assignments in a timely fashion

    Qualifications/Requirements
    Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (or minimum 4 years relevant work experience) with a minimum 5 years of IT experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise application development
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Java EE, OOAD, Middleware and relational DB

  • Demonstrated competency in reducing and optimizing mainframe batch schedules
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting / developing company systems
  • Experience with project management and execution of multiple simultaneous and / or large projects
  • Experience working with offshore development teams
  • Demonstrated competency in reducing and optimizing production schedules
