The Infrastructure Availability Engineer is responsible for availability, installation, configuration, provisioning, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure management software. During the normal workday, the Infrastructure Availability Engineer will respond to trouble tickets created by the NOC, monitoring automations and internal customers; monitor our monitoring systems, expand functionality, and be an advocate for resolution of recurring issues in accordance with operational requirements. During the workday the Infrastructure Availability Engineer will use, document, update and maintain installation and configuration procedures on the wiki, and shall contribute to and maintain best practices documentation for operations, and capital efficiency.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Ensure proper monitoring, alerting and reporting for the infrastructure
  • Manage monitoring systems (Tivoli, Neustar, Nagios, Cacti) and other tools to ensure the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of monitoring jobs
  • Maintain and manage diverse set of infrastructure tools and scripts
  • Write and modify Bash, Perl, and Ruby scripts
  • Be internal advocate for resolution of recurring issues
  • Work with incident team to diagnose and recover from hardware or software failures working with the Incident Commander to communicate monitoring system data
  • Gather system requirements and support project teams in evolving, testing and rollout of new products and services, and transitioning the site or product to post launch operation activities throughout life of the product or service
  • Work with the R&D team and other systems engineers to make improvements
  • Document processes and procedures and follow formal change management procedure
  • Participate in regularly scheduled on-call rotation during off-hours
  • Must be able to function autonomously, take ownership of projects, identify and work on tasks with limited or no supervision
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years’ experience administering Linux required
  • Experience with monitoring tools, e.g. nagios, cacti
  • Experience with historical system analysis and system performance
  • Working knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SNMP
  • Knowledge of the challenges of a very large multifaceted global environment
  • Knowledge of large scale web-scale environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while
  • meeting deadlines
  • High degree of honesty and integrity
  • Team-player, positive attitude and flexible
  • Must be comfortable with adult content
  • Must be at least 21 years old
