Description
Cargill's Global Mobility team is responsible for providing the policies, processes, and expertise needed for our businesses to manage a globally mobile workforce.
Prepares cost estimates and service and transfer of personnel agreements to support our global talent movement. Provides consulting on tax implications in assignment letters. Provides tax briefing sessions to explain our policies, procedures and tax reimbursement implications to our global workforce. Manages the Americas governance requests through the system within Global Mobility.
Ensures expatriate compensation is reported accurately and timely according to local rules and regulations and supports audit requests. Participates in global initiatives and ensures the internal tax and accounting processes relating to Cargill's globally mobile population (expats, STA's, commuters) are as efficient as possible. Executes, at a regional level, accurate reporting and consulting of equity compensation. Participates in the development and implementation of tax strategy especially as it relates to equity compensation, while keeping in mind broader issues impacting Corporate Tax and Accounting. Executes the tax reimbursement calculations by ensuring proper income is recognized and/or payments and collections are made on a timely basis. At a regional level provides support on budget requests for Americas outbound assignees.
Interacts with our global tax consultants to ensure all assignee compliance needs are met on a timely basis and establishes service level agreements and tax filing positions in each of the regions' countries. Interacts, coaches and mentors the region's country coordinators to ensure all required compliance activities are handled on time, in accordance with local rules and any lessons learned from audits are incorporated in our new processes and shared among the other region's tax managers. Coordinates with our global tax consultants and considers all legal means to minimize our assignees' and our corporate tax liability through use of new income tax laws, treaties and tax positions.
30% - Ensure expatriate compensation is reported accurately and timely, including tax reimbursements
20% - Interact, coach and mentor the country coordinators in the Americas countries to ensure all required compliance activities (split payroll, cross charges to foreign BU's, expense reports, vendor payments and tax payments) are handled on time and in accordance with local reporting rules.
20% - Assist with and support the execution of our global Trailing Liability Project
10% - Prepare cost estimates and assists in the development of service/transfer of personnel agreements and manages the Americas tax governance process
10% - Interact with our global tax consultants to ensure all compliance is done on time while establishing SLA's and specific filing positions
10% - Conduct assignee tax briefings, consult on any and all tax questions and any ad hoc regional/global projects, PPH assistance, etc.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Tax
Seven or more years of experience with global mobility tax services
Minimum of two years of supervisory experience
Knowledge of handling equity compensation on a global basis
Proven analysis skills sufficient to ensure that compensation package modeling and tax calculations are accurate; being able to make day-to-day decisions or provide the required information to seek a decision from higher level leaders
Excellent project management skills providing support to project leaders and other team members
Excellent communication and writing skills while protecting privacy and confidentiality but also a high level of tact and ability to handle sensitive compensation and financial information
Excellent customer service, influencing, negotiation, and problem solving skills, including conflict management and facilitation of resolution of disagreements
Solid knowledge of tax regulations in the major countries in the Americas
Working knowledge of HR databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point etc.
Global mindset; awareness of cultural differences, supportive of diversity, business and service orientation
Hands-on, detail-oriented
Able to work under pressure
Preferred:
Working experience in the administration of an expatriate population with a company of similar size to Cargill or having managed global coordination for such a size client with a Big 4 accounting firm
