The Open Climate Network (OCN) seeks candidates for an internship. The successful candidate will provide administrative and research support to OCN, a coalition of independent research institutes and civil society organizations that monitor climate policy implementation in key countries. (For more information about the Open Climate Network, please review the attached FY13 Project Plan.) The position is located at WRI’s headquarters in Washington, DC. It will begin as soon as possible and last for 3 months, with the possibility of extension.

Organize and document meetings, conference calls, and other interaction with team members and partners; identify, coordinate, and follow up on next steps
Support OCN’s publication process, including by editing drafts and helping coordinate peer review and production processes
Draft and edit correspondence with project partners and funders
Draft and edit content for project web site
Process contracts and payment requests
Enter contacts and meetings into Raiser’s Edge
Maintain the project’s intranet site and other internal management systems
Conduct background research on a range of climate policy questions
Support other project activities as needed

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, for example, environmental policy or economics (master’s degree preferred)
Exceptional writing and editing skills; ability to communicate effectively through a range of written media including technical papers, blog posts, Powerpoint presentations, and e-mail correspondence
Highly organized, motivated, and proactive
Prior research experience; ability to evaluate and document sources; comfort with quantitative and qualitative approaches; skill in communicating results accurately and objectively
Strong interpersonal skills
Familiarity with a range of policy options for addressing climate change
Availability to participate in conference calls with international partners outside of regular office hours
Adherence to WRI’s institutional values
International experience an asset (not required)
Portuguese language skills an asset (not required)

This is a paid internship. Rate depends on qualifications and experience.

The internship will begin as soon as possible and last for 3 months, with the possibility of extension depending on performance, project needs, and funding.
