Direct all aspects of fundraising and development to generate at least $1.5 million per year. Grow and diversify streams of philanthropic support. Key responsibilities include cultivating funding relationships and partnerships with major gift donors, corporations, and foundations to promote the Foundation’s mission and OneBreath® initiatives. Develop and execute a multi-year fundraising plan to expand the annual fund and major gift campaigns, institute a planned giving program, and establish cause related marketing sponsorships with corporate supporters.
Manage an Annual Fund Manager and serve as the staff liaison to the Board of Trustees Development Committee. In that capacity, the goal is to continue to inculcate a culture of giving for the American College of Chest Physicians by partnering with leadership, resulting in an exponential increase in engagement and participation in the Foundation’s breadth of fundraising programs.
Increase philanthropic support and meet strategic goal objectives by developing and implementing measurable fundraising programs as defined in a multi-year plan. This comprehensive annual fundraising plan will include annual fund, capital and endowment fund, major gifts, planned giving, special events, corporate and foundation giving, sponsorships, and new fundraising initiatives.
Direct the Annual Fund Manager to assure attainment of annual and capital fund goals.
Oversee donor recognition and stewardship programs.
Manage special fundraising events including local and regional donor cultivation events.
Manage the cultivation and solicitation of individual donors including incorporating a moves strategy.
Communicate with donors in a timely manner by working with Marketing and Communications staff to develop effective solicitation materials, website content, quarterly donor newsletters, and an annual report.
Serve as staff liaison to the Development Committee and be responsible for all activities related to its effective operation.
Collaborate with Marketing and Communications staff to develop cause marketing sponsorship fulfillment.
Provide monthly reports to track and analyze key philanthropic activities and results.
Provide fundraising training to the Board of Trustees and other key College leaders to encourage a culture of philanthropy to grow within the organization.
Increase awareness of the Foundation’s mission and programs to a global audience to ensure growth of the donor base.
Participate in professional associations to advance personal growth and to establish key strategic partnership relationships.
Serve as an articulate and passionate spokesperson both internally and externally to put a “face” on the College’s philanthropy and the positive outcomes that result from philanthropic investment.
Oversee conversion from Raiser’s Edge to Avectra.
Complete other tasks, activities, and projects as assigned by the Executive Director
Required Position Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience in fundraising leadership; experience with a medical society, hospital, or pharmaceutical organization required
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree/certification desired (CFRE preferred)
History of success with strategic development thinking and planning; experience with building and leading a development program with ambitious goals and multiple revenue streams
Outstanding verbal and written skills
Mature and responsible with an ability to interact with diverse audiences and experience working with volunteer leadership
Demonstrated success in soliciting and closing multiple 6 and 7 figure gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations
Strong analytic and strategic thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to create, implement, and monitor complex plans and translate those plans into concrete strategies leading to success
Familiar with trends in philanthropy and technology to increase awareness and donations including social media and online fundraising
Ability to accommodate occasional travel
