Database Administration Consultant

Work with a world class team to provide enterprise-wide, Oracle Database Administration support for production systems and provide DBA services to application development teams, including database design, database generation, coding, and database production support. Provide DBA support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness. Provide accurate and creative solutions to user problems of moderate nature to ensure user productivity. As a Senior Database Administrator, you are instrumental in researching, evaluating, designing, testing, recommending, and planning implementation of new versions of Oracle database, MAA features and database tools. May act as a team lead during database implementations and for system operation and maintenance. This role will also provide leadership to other project members and will be expected to drive delivery and provide guidance where necessary.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive and delivery Oracle database deployment and new technology adoption.
Provision of consultancy and deployment assistance on Oracle's MAA architecture and solutions.
DBA lead. Drive the project and prod teams to execute all project deliverables on time and to the agreed scope.
Understanding of audit and security requirements.
Create, maintain, and administer
Oracle databases on Unix platforms
Ensure the databases are highly secure, available, and recoverable
Proactively monitor and tune the databases for maximum performance
Install, configure, and patch database software and complete database migrations and upgrades
Support application development team, with a focus on helping the team interact with the database in the most efficient and productive way possible
Troubleshoot and solve database and application coding problems
Deploy the database components for new versions of our applications to test and production environments.
Ensure that new solutions meet the needs of Dell business and can be readily deployed and maintained.
Evaluation of new tools, products and technologies for adoption by the global team
8 to 10 years+ Oracle Database Administration Skills.
Oracle EM/Grid Control experience.
Install, maintain, configuration & upgrade.
Oracle 10g, 11g RAC and Data Guard administration, RAC and ASM experience
5+ years of Oracle performance tuning experience
Extensive knowledge and experience of Oracle's MAA architecture, solutions and processes.
Must have very strong proven track record of project delivery and leadership.
Database performance tuning.
Oracle Applications experience an advantage.
Replication (simple snapshots & multi master replication)
Standby database and other high-availability solutions
7 years+ experience managing large, business critical databases in an Enterprise environment. Exposure to change control and problem management procedures.
7 years+ experience working on the Linux/UNIX platforms.
Extensive knowledge of centralized backup & recovery solutions.
Extensive knowledge and experience of clustering & high availability solutions.
Minimum Educational Requirements:
s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
