Description

L-3 Warrior Systems, Insight Technology, a leading designer and manufacturer of laser, night vision, and electro-optic products is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to pursue a career in a fast-paced company. As a member of our new product development staff, you will become a recognized contributor providing mechanical engineering leadership and technical expertise to support the development of military systems.

Our engineering team is focused on providing innovative solutions that maximize the soldier’s effectiveness on the battlefield. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in many phases of the design process, from concept to prototype integration to production. RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the design of new products that encompass a wide range of technologies, including plastic injection molding, CNC machining, low and high power visible and infrared (IR) laser sources, visible and infrared imaging, analog/digital/RF electronics, and optics integration

Opto-Mechanical integration of laser or imaging optics and detectors

Integration of RF electronics and antennas

Design for harsh environments, including shock, extreme temperature, immersion, and hermetics

Integration of both rigid and flexible circuits and interconnects

Rapid prototyping sufficient for user concept demonstration

Create test fixtures for assembly and test

Qualifications

BSME or MSME is required with a minimum of 8 years experience engineering high technology,

man-portable/ handheld consumer or military products with emphasis on miniaturization, weight and heat management, and near-production ready designs

Enthusiastic self-starter with a proven track record of product development in an interdisciplinary design team from concept through production

Diverse skills including project scoping/ task scheduling, concept brainstorming, detailed design and analysis, documentation, and hands on involvement in prototype, build, and test

Proficiency in solid modeling (part and assembly) and drafting. Siemens NX experience preferred

Working knowledge of molded plastics design, materials, adhesives and design for manufacturing

Working knowledge of structural FEA and/or thermal analysis

Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

An understanding of electrical, software, and digital requirements is considered valuable

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Ability to obtain a security clearance and experience working with military customers considered a plus
