The role of the Health Information Management Specialist (HIM) III is integral to providing "Extraordinary Care" to patients and customers. The HIM is responsible for performing tasks that support complete, accurate and timely paper-based and electronic medical records for use by patients, healthcare providers, and management and government/regulatory agencies.

Additionally, the HIM is responsible to assure that requests for patient information are processed according to federal regulation, to provide proper training to medical staff regarding record completion requirements and use of the electronic medical record, to assure the state requirements regarding birth, fetal death, and paternity documents are followed.

Completing these duties provides the HIM the opportunity to truly make a difference in the lives of many on a daily basis.

Entry Rate: $12.69
Benefits Eligible: Yes
Shift Details: Monday through Friday, 11am to 4pm, but must be flexible to cover additional hours including evenings and weekends.

Minimum Requirements

One or more years of office experience

Two year associate degree or completion of an AHIMA HIM accredited program and two years HIM experience; or three years HIM experience. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

Demonstrated proficiency in the following areas of retrieval, filing, preparing, assembly, purging, consolidation, and scanning/indexing of multiple patient types.

Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.

Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate orally and in writing, and attention to detail.

Demonstrated excellent problem solving skills and ability to handle and manage conflict.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions, and function as part of a team.

Hearing/Listening, Manual Dexterity, Seeing, Sitting, Speaking

Preferred Qualifications

One or more years of Health Information Management (HIM) or Medical Records experience

Prior scanning knowledge and experience.

Previous computer experience (Microsoft Word and Windows)
