This program includes environmental surveillance, control of mosquitoes at the breeding source, and targeted adult mosquito control. Each step of the process contributes to reducing the risk of mosquito borne disease. In support of this commitment, we seek a passionate individual for Clarkes seasonal Backpack Technician position. Backpack Technicians are responsible for utilizing a backpack sprayer for the application of a biological larvicide to sites found to be breeding in an effort to control the population of mosquitoes. Multiple positions are available. No prior experience is required. Paid training is included! Shift: Monday- Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm Pay: $10.00 per hour Seasonal Benefits Available! Overtime opportunities available! Job Duties and Responsibilities: Utilize a map to drive to assigned treatment areas and to locate specific breeding site Measure treatments accurately and dispense granules utilizing a 50 lb backpack in a safe, proper and timely manner Perform daily inspections of vehicle and equipment to verify working condition and communicate any issues to supervisor Document daily work activity including product used to ensure completion of customer contracts Responsible for making sure safe work practices and procedures are followed at all times
Experience and Skills
Successful Candidate Must Must be 18 years of age or older Possess a high school degree or equivalent with high school level math skills Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms Have a valid Drivers License with an excellent driving record Ability to bend, lift, and carry a 50lb backpack while wearing a respirator during treatments for extensive amounts of time. Other Requirements Must be able to work through the end of our 2011 season (September/October) Required to pass the Illinois Department of Agriculture General Standard Exam (training provided) Must be available to work Monday- Friday, 7:00am until 3:30pm Candidates must be comfortable performing assigned duties outdoors while walking through various and challenging terrain including but not limited to water, heavy vegetation and uneven land throughout residential communities and forested areas where environmental conditions are affected by weather We offer a team atmosphere where each individual can and does make a difference.
