The VAMC is looking for full-time Physicians Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry to serve as Psychiatrists providing care to our veterans receiving care at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. Incumbent must be skilled in the management of a patient's mental needs or sub specialty evaluation and treatment. Responsible for carrying an outpatient workload along with administrative and professional responsibilities.Conducts history, physical exams and mental status exams. Completes assessments and formulates diagnosis. Develops and presents treatment plans to the multidisciplinary team. Orders all lab and radiological assessments. Performs psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy as indicated in the treatment plan. Maintains effective and up-to-date documentation of patient encounters. Perform other duties as assigned within their scope of practice.
Work Schedule: Full-time (Alternate Tour of duty may be required to include evening hours and weekends)

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.
(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.
(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
Licensure and Registration. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States , or in the District of Columbia . The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position. Non-citizens may be considered only after it has been determined that it is not possible to recruit a qualified U.S. citizen.
After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
You will be required to make occasional travel.
