Coast Dental is looking for an experienced Hygienist looking to
take on a new and exciting opportunity in our Citrus Heights, California Practice.
The Registered Dental Hygienist is a special position to provide our patients
with the most important oral health care service possible. Also educates to
promote oral hygiene. Ideal candidate must enjoy being a hygienist with a
positive personality and good people skills are essential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Establish a rapport with patients.
2. Assist the doctor in providing oral health care to patients by
cleaning, scaling and polishing teeth.
3. Takes x-rays
4. Records evaluation of mouth condition.
5. Extend of prophylaxis for more complete diagnosis and subsequent
treatment if needed.
6. Provide patient with on-going preventative oral health care.
7. Provide treatments and reinforcements of the doctor’s treatment plan.
8. Adheres to all required OSHA and health regulations.
9. Developing strong professional bonds.
ACCOUNTABILITY/SUPERVISION:
Permitted functions under direct supervision and ordered by dentist who must be
present in facility (does not have to be in treatment room). Dentist is
required to check and approve treatment prior to dismissal of patient.
- Local anesthesia
- Nitrous analgesia
Permitted functions under general supervision by dentist. Dentist not required
being present in facility but must give order for procedure(s). We will not
allow. Dentist must always be present in the facility when RDH or RDHEF
treating patients.
- Intra oral examinations
- Scaling and root planning
- Irrigation during scaling and root planning
- Placement of Arestin
- All general ortho wires placement and removal procedures, including
bands
- Cure ortho brackets
- Bite registrations
- Construction bleaching trays
- Application of bleaching agents and activation with non-laser light.
(LumaLite permitted function)
- Bonding only for pit and sealants
- Remove temporal and permanent cement
- Place and remove periodontal packs
- Fit and cement temporary crowns
- Place and remove temporal sedative fillings
- Remove sutures
Non Permitted Functions:
- Etching/Bonding of teeth for composite restorations
- Placement of retraction cord for impressions
- Spacer maintainers, orthodontic appliances or occlusal guard
impressions
Extended Functions:
Can perform all the above same permitted functions under direct supervision and
general supervision of dentist ordered by dentist who must be present in
facility (does not have to be in treatment room). Dentist is required to
check and approve treatment prior to dismissal of patient.
- Can Etch and place bonding agents on enamel in preparation of
dentist placing composite restoration
- Cord retraction placement
- Take cast restoration final impressions
- Fit endodontic points
- Spacer maintainers, orthodontic appliances or occlusal guard
impressions
QUALIFICATIONS:
A valid and current RDH license and current CPR
