SMITH/Associates (www.smithcollaboration.com) is looking for Resource Efficiency Managers to support JB Elmendorf-Richardson AB, AK (Anchorage) and Eielson AB, AK (near Fairbanks). The Resource Efficiency Manager
  • ’s primary focus will be to identify ways to help reduce facility utility and water consumption saving money and resources. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of energy-related experience.
  • OR Master’s degree and at least 3 years of energy-related experience.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance upon hire.
  • Must be a United States citizen or have dual-citizenship.
  • Proficient in developing and presenting professional engineering communications and presentations.
  • Experience in engineering analysis of facility and utility systems.
  • Experience with facility and related utility system design, construction management, operations and maintenance, project management, and program management.
  • Knowledgeable in creating written energy policy recommendations.
  • Skilled in facility audits for determining energy focused improvements and have an understanding of utility billing.
  • Experienced in assisting with the creation of broad-based guidance and directives for energy conservation.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives in energy and water.
  • Evaluate technical and economic feasibility of energy and water conservation projects using Air Force standard practices, as well as industry standards and techniques.
  • Incorporate and recommend activities or technologies for new and current energy and water conservation to allow existing systems to operate more efficiently.
  • Optimize new and existing buildings through commissioning, re-commissioning, operations and maintenance, construction design reviews, and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) review.
  • Develop and program energy and water projects to reduce energy and water consumption.
  • Review non-energy projects to ensure use of energy efficient equipment and energy efficient facility design.
  • Conduct energy audits, field investigations, facility surveys, preliminary assessments, detailed assessments, technology assessments, life-cycle cost analysis, and feasibility studies to identify and develop resource conservation opportunities.
  • Provide deliverables which evaluate commercially available and emerging technologies. Deliverables may include requirements to analyze experimental designs and provide recommendation concerning adoption of these designs and audit the performance of these new technologies.
  • Develop facility and utility system energy and water audit plans.
