Youth: Afternoons and/or evenings
Consistent with the Christian mission and Hope for Life Vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Group Fitness Coordinator, the Group Fitness Instructor will instruct high quality group fitness classes, provide excellent customer service to members in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Education / Experience Required:
Minimum 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent required
One specialty Certification (Zumba, Turbokick, etc.)
Pre-hire: complete YMCA of Middle TN application for employment, new hire packet, Praesidium Child Abuse Detection / Prevention training
Before start of first shift: BBP
Within two weeks of hire: First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Emergency Oxygen
Within 120 days of hire: Healthy Lifestyle Principles; Foundations of Group Exercise
*AEA Certification required for aqua.
Model YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
Lead a high quality group fitness class as directed by the Wellness Director to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
Provide an energized, fun, safe and educational class.
Learn members names and encourage member interaction.
Begin and end class on time.
Exhibit a true team player attitude through support, concern and subbing for team members.
Attend other instructors classes, minimum of once a month.
Attend and participate actively in fitness staff meetings.
Keep accurate class attendance records.
Report to MOD or supervisor immediately - and document - any accident/injury/incident.
Return all equipment to proper place (e.g., mats, batteries, bands, etc.)
Maintain current certifications.
Maintain working knowledge of fitness industry and YMCA trends to provide effective information and training to members.
