Minimum Requirement - Primary Experience :
Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure.
Education Substitution :
A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Description of Job Duties
With the specific written approval of the State Highway Engineer this position is authorized and assigned to plan, assign and review the work of employees in the section office. Manage and supervise engineering functions including highway construction and maintenance. Manage the construction inspection and routine maintenance programs including monitoring the construction project and routine maintenance budgets. Plan, assign and supervise the work of the section office staff in order to meet the objective of the construction inspection, routine maintenance and other engineering programs. Serve as the point of contact for elected officials and the general public in addressing complaints. Coordinate work with other section offices and other engineering functions. Stay abreast of major issues and changes to the Operations Management System and SiteManager software programs to ensure appropriate use. Attend project development team meetings.

Characteristics of the Class :
With the written approval of the State Highway Engineer, positions in this class are authorized and assigned to plan, assign, supervise and review the work of employees in the administration of transportation engineering programs. Oversees the activities of professional and technical personnel in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of highways, structures or facilities. Reviews and approves engineering documents as a Licensed Professional Engineer; and performs other duties as required.
Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements :
Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites.
