General Summary:
To operate AutoCAD software, including creating, updating and modifying residential home plans while having a general knowledge of residential building codes.

Create and modify AutoCAD drawings in 2D and 3D for new home construction projects.

Work with salespeople and customers to create custom home plans.

Work with speed, accuracy and creativity.

Develop elements of production drawings based on sketches or verbal input.

Incorporate survey information into site plans.

Function as an effective member of a project team.

Basic knowledge of residential wood framing.

Travel to other Tilson locations throughout the state as needed.

Effectively communicate in English.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support all departments in the company.

Customer service – When the needs of the company or its customers dictate, this job will entail whatever needs to be done that is assigned by a supervisor/manager and is within the employee’s capability to deliver.

Critical Competencies and Skills:
Communication skills - effective oral and written communication skills including the correct usage of business English, grammar, and punctuation.

Effectively communicate with Engineers and Salespeople regarding details of the structure of the home.

Organization skills - ability to arrange information and files in a useful manner. Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.

Knowledge of International Residential Code (I.R.C.), International Energy Conservation Code (I.E.C.C.) and windstorm requirements.

Knowledge of homebuilding products and materials.

Ability to research municipal building requirements.

Knowledge ofAuto CAD drafting principles, practices, methods and techniques.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and surveys; prepare accurate detailed drawings from data supplied by field surveys; operate computer using standard drafting software packages.

Ability to visualize the home in 3D while creating plans and communicating the concept to others.

Ability to operate plotters.

Ability to develop AutoCAD files for engineering projects; maintain complete, readily accessible files and records; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and outside engineers.

Ability to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.

Must be a self-starter and able to contribute in design reviews.

Must possess leadership skills.

Must be able to work the assigned schedule and comply with the company’s attendance policy.

Must have ability to handle multiple tasks in a high stress environment.

4-year related degree and 3+ year's AutoCAD experience; or 2 year associates degree or completion of a technical trade school in AutoCAD, drafting or related field and 4+ year's AutoCAD experience; or 7+ year's AutoCAD experience with no formal degree.

Residential drafting experience required.

Experience in using Excel.

Related college degree preferred. See “Experience” above.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a sedentary position which requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry office materials and supplies weighting 20 pounds or less.

Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard.

Must have the hand/eye coordination necessary to operate office business machines (calculator, phone, fax, copier, etc.) and a personal computer.

Hearing and speech sufficient to verbally communicate in person and on the telephone.

Mobility to frequently alternate between sitting, standing, and moving about the facilities.
