SUMMARY

Answer incoming calls to the main switchboard and transfer to the appropriate department and/or person. Provide assistance to customer service calls by answering customer questions, handling account inquiries, and other customer service duties using established First Interstate Bank retail sales and services skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Answer and transfer incoming calls to the main switchboard in a professional and polite manner.

Assist customer service calls regarding account inquiries, problem solving and complaint resolution.

Sell and refer bank products using First Interstate Bank retail sales and service skills to meet annual goals.

Open, close and maintenance of all types of deposit accounts.

Provide backup to customer service by performing such duties/tasks as stop payments, holds, transfer requests, Reg E disputes, check orders, statement/research requests, wire transfers, address changes, card requests, and checkbook balancing.

Maintain customer files, including annual review of all files and filing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Previous banking experience preferred, but not required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, procedure manuals, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math proficiency and aptitude. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and commissions.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Demonstrated aptitude to handle sensitive operational transactions and customer relationships; professional appearance; demonstrated social skills; excellent verbal/non-verbal skills; self-sufficient; good time management and organizational skills and demonstrate working knowledge of personal computer.
