Students who are interested in applying for Summer 2013 Grant or Endowed Internship Funding must complete this online application for consideration. Students may ONLY apply to ONE funding source.
Students must have secured an 8-10 week, full-time, unpaid, summer internship to be eligible to apply for College funding. Two part-time internships are NOT eligible for funding.
Grant and Endowed Programs are competitive and look for clarity in presentation, support from the sponsoring organization/agency/business, academic preparation and a link to the applicant’s interest. These programs also call for well-defined responsibilities, originality, uniqueness of the internship opportunity, and how it fits within the criteria of the specific internship Grant or Endowed Program. Students applying for a Grant Program must contact the Grant Program’s chair or coordinator to explore whether the internship fits within the mission of the Program.
The stipend amount awarded is based on a student-generated budget that outlines various transportation, housing, and food expenses expected to be incurred while completing the internship.
All funding decisions will be determined by the first week of May, 2013.
Detailed instructions and access to information about the required application documents are available on the CDO Internship Applications and Deadlines webpage, which includes:
*Resume (reviewed by a CDO representative is highly recommended);
*Confirmation of Intern Acceptance Form (completed by the student’s Internship Supervisor);
*Proposed Budget Form (form provided must be used);
*Unofficial transcript (obtained from the Registrar’s Office);
*The Grinnell College Student Intern Waiver, Release, and Indemnification Agreement (signed by a parent/guardian); and
*Two Grinnell College faculty member recommendation forms (name, e-mail address, and phone number of the two faculty members who will be submitting a recommendation form on the student’s behalf needs to be entered into the online application)submitted to the CDO separate from the student’s online application.
Only complete applications received by the deadline will be forwarded to the selection committee for review, which includes the online application and two recommendation forms submitted by Grinnell faculty members to the CDO .
If a student is interested in applying for academic credit for their internship in addition to funding, the student must secure a Grinnell College Faculty Sponsor and upload a Student Learning Internship Plan ( SLIP ) and Credit-bearing Internship Form into the online application. SLIP instructions are available on the CDO’s Internships Application Process and Deadlines webpage.
*Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time as a First-year, Second-year, or Third-year Grinnell College student.
*Spring 2013 transfer students are eligible to apply for internship funding. Spring 2013 transfer students must upload a copy of their transcript from their previous institution(s) obtained from the Grinnell College Registrar’s Office in addition to their Grinnell unofficial transcript.
*Applicants must be in good academic standing.
*Applicants must have a current GPA of at least 2.50.
*Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student during the Fall 2013 semester either on campus or participating on an approved Grinnell College OCS program.
*Students on leave from the College during the Spring 2013 semester are ineligible to apply for internship funding.
