The Department of Human Resource Services under the Senior Vice President of Business and Finance at Iowa State University, is seeking applications for a Human Resource Specialist III who will serve under the general supervision of the Director of Human Resource Services. Responsibilities of this position include providing advice, assistance and referrals to college and department personnel regarding employee and labor relations issues in administering the collective bargaining agreement, the merit rules, and ISU personnel policies, procedures and practices. Other responsibilities include providing guidance to department personnel and staff regarding FMLA, Worker's Compensation, and unemployment claims; providing support to supervisors and employees to maintain operational efficiency and performing research as needed in human resource policies and practices to enable ISU to remain the premier land grant institution in the nation.
The successful candidate will be current with human resources best practices; possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years of experience in a related area; OR a Master's degree and two years of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or progressively responsible experience totaling 8 years. Experience must include employee relations or labor relations.
PHR/SPHR or other professional designation
Experience in Family and Medical Leave, Worker's Compensation, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, and Unemployment Claims.
Minimum $44,800; commensurate with qualifications
