Working under minimal supervision, the Software Engineer III-ETL will be a member of a development team responsible for developing, updating and supporting software systems and applications in collaboration with their team. Software Engineer III-ETL levels are an integral part of the team competent to work on most phases of applications development and capable of carrying out all essential development tasks. Level of work assigned is typically moderately complex as knowledge, skills and expertise develop.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities *
  • Engage in hands-on Design, coding, testing and debugging of efficient, high quality ETL workflow processes and improving existing workflows in order to satisfy customer requirements. Work from specifications, or comfortable in an iterative and incremental development environment. May develop detailed specifications from which applications will be written, designed, coded, tested and debugged. *
  • Actively contribute to, participate in, and aim to continuously improve all levels of testing efforts. Begin to define scope and develop testing methods, collaborating with QA team and other developers. Provide broad perspective on quality initiatives. *
  • Support, maintain, and document software functionality. Act as a resource for less experienced engineers. Make recommendations on engineering processes and methods. *
  • Provide second level operational support to diagnose/resolve incidents in production systems. Direct interaction with operations team. Resolve most issues, but will escalate complex issues to more senior team members as necessary. *
  • Actively participate in general knowledge/technology transfer throughout team/department. Include documenting larger scope and moderately complex assignments. Develop expertise in specific areas. Presents information and mentors other team members. Provide technical assistance on assigned module/project. *
  • Partner with product owners/business partners to define requirements and software design. Participate in discussions, influence outcomes, and make recommendations on feasibility/processes.
Education *
  • Bachelor's Degree in a software engineering discipline preferred

Experience *
  • Minimum three years of experience in developing and deploying large scale ETL systems using Informatica/PowerCenter *
  • Three plus years of experience with Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, and related database tools *
  • Able to test and performance tune SQL *
  • Six plus years of responsible experience within Information Technology departments

Knowledge/Skills *
  • Proficient/competent to work on most phases of ETL programming *
  • Working knowledge of various business process and system modeling tools including: Data Flow Diagrams, Process Models, ER diagrams, Dimensional Data Models, Context Models, Event Modeling, State Modeling, Process decomposition, and Use Case Scenarios. *
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills *
  • Works under minimal supervision *
  • Willing to do whatever work is needed in order to help the team and the organization succeed: manual testing, test automation, build improvements *
  • Customer oriented: meets individual commitments, works with the team to achieve team commitments, and responds to requests in a timely manner, willing to help *
  • Ability to focus on and solve problems, but with a willingness to ask for help when needed *
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, operations support to define solutions *
  • Proficiency in capturing and analyzing requirements, presenting alternative solutions, recommending the appropriate design, developing the solution to meet the requirements, and maintaining required documentation *
  • Participate in a team environment and mentor less experienced team members *
  • Driven to excel in areas of technical expertise
