This exciting role affords a unique opportunity to help drive public opinion of the world’s leading refining technology innovator. Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies is a global leader in providing customers with high-performance solutions, including fluorine products; specialty films and additives; advanced fibers and composites; intermediates; specialty chemicals; electronic materials and chemicals; and technologies and materials for petroleum refining. There is an immediate opening for a Communications Specialist within Honeywell’s Performance Materials and Technologies business. This position reports to the Director, Communications in the Communications Department, and primarily supports product lines within the UOP business group located in Des Plaines , IL . This individual should be confident, a strong writer and able to work independently and in a team. The candidate should have experience in a variety of com munication disciplines (marketing com munications and media/external com munications experience is preferred) and a strong desire to grow and learn in a business-to-business environment. The individual must have a passion for excellence and be able to interact with all levels of the organization, including senior executives, business leaders, marketing managers, sales personnel, support functions and other Honeywell businesses. The Communications Specialist will assist the Director in raising the standard for overall com munications performance in a nearly $3 billion business. This position requires flexibility and the ability to gain fluency in a wide range of technologies and products. The Communications Specialist must think strategically and possess strong tactical skills to implement com munications initiatives that are aligned with business priorities. The Communications Specialist must be willing to set and meet measurable com munications goals and facilitate continuous process improvement. Responsibilities Support day-to-day execution of proactive com munications programs that support business priorities and growth. Draft and edit a wide range of written com munication materials such as Web copy, business pitches, presentations, press releases, case studies, and collateral. Help plan, develop and execute measurable marketing com munications programs, integrated with media relations, in support of key marketing initiatives, new product introductions and customer-facing events such as trade shows, conferences and customer workshops for select businesses. Help drive measurable product- and business-related media relations programs. Collaborate with Performance Materials and Technologies regional com municators in Europe and Asia on related initiatives as needed. Manage com munication timelines. Manage vendors (designers, photographers, videographers etc.) and other internal and external resources. Support other projects as assigned. Basic Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations (or related discipline) 2 years of directly relevant professional experience in business com munications or agency environment Additional Qualifications Masters Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations (or related discipline) Exceptional writing and editing skills, as evidenced by past experience and writing samples Strong verbal com munications skills, as well as excellent presentation skills Ability to draft copy for a wide range of media including print, online, multimedia and face-to-face Ability to craft effective messaging for both internal and external audiences Ability to prepare com munication plans and work with others to assist with implementation Sensitivity to deadlines and production targets while flexible enough to deal effectively with changes in the situation requiring quick adjustments in work plans Thorough knowledge of Associated Press (AP) writing style Energized by a fast-paced environment; able to deliver results on time Ability to establish strong working relationships with key work partners Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Web-savvy Should have an understanding of business processes and vernacular Business-to-business or chemical industry experience As an equal opportunity employer, Honeywell is committed to a diverse workforce.
