District Sales Manager Intern (Part-time)

Basic Functions
Acquire an accurate understanding of the functions of a District Sales Manager (DSM) in an Agency Division Office to obtain the skills necessary to plan, staff and direct a unit of independent contracted agents, and develop market and territory sales strategies.

Essential Job Functions
Learn the functions of a District Sales Manager (DSM) in an Agency Division Office to obtain the skills necessary to plan, staff and direct a unit of independent contracted agents, and develop market and territory sales strategies.

Progress through a prescribed training program to include:
completing management development training such as learning key processes related to recruiting, career development and agent activity;
completing DSM Internship activities such as monitoring agent activities, starting agents on their precontract phase, field training, and related home office schools.

Meet minimum expectations of the intern position as outlined in the District Sales Manager Intern guide to ensure continual learning and improved understanding necessary for the success of this position.

Maintain production requirements in order to satisfy the program objectives.

Maintain positive working relationships and communication with field management, support staff and agents, as well as home office personnel. Minimum Job Requirements

Sales management skills
Successful experience as an insurance sales agent
Knowledge of individual insurance products and marketing philosophies
Strong communication, negotiation, human relations and motivational skills
Strong planning and leadership skills; sound judgment and problem-solving skills
In-depth knowledge of applicable state laws and regulations regarding insurance sales; insurance sales license required
Ability to travel 20-30% of the work period (driver's license required); ability to keyboard occasionally; ability to negotiate physical barriers common with both businesses and private residences.
