PeaceHealth is looking for an outstanding SQL SERVER/ORACLE SENIOR DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR to join our Interfaces team! This is a full-time , exempt position. The main purpose of this position will be to proactively administer Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases across the System, which includes implementation, performance tuning, ongoing maintenance, backup/recovery, security, and support. The SQL Server/Oracle Senior Database Administrator is primarily concerned with managing Oracle relational database management system running on the UNIX/Linux/Windows platforms and SQL Server on Windows in a 24 x 7 x 365 environment. This person's efforts will include: maintenance of the database instances through the use of automated tasks and routine monitoring of server resources; implementation of database backups on regular intervals; and resolution of support calls, as generated on a periodic basis. SQL Server/Oracle Database Administration staff will work in coordination with each other, as well as other departmental resources, to best meet the overall database administration needs of the System. Additional job responsibilities include:
Create standards for SQL Server and Oracle database administration that support optimal use of database server resources and performance.
Implement automated database maintenance and backup routines using standard methodologies, e.g. RMAN, scripts, and maintenance jobs.
Routinely monitor database growth and server resources to ensure optimum performance and availability.
Facilitate server-side database development, when needed, and forecast storage infrastructure needs for various Healthcare Improvement Division projects.
Create processes and procedures to minimize any potential downtime scenarios.
Routinely evaluate and/or implement improved methods or processes for administering and maintaining databases and servers.
Define hardware, software, and licensing needs for the annual budget.
Fully document the resolution of TSOC calls and disseminate support information on a regular basis.
Troubleshoot problems on an as-needed basis.
Coordinate administration activities with other database administrators to ensure proper distribution of tasks and coverage of TSOC responsibilities.
Work with other members of the Healthcare Improvement Division to assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing support of healthcare improvement projects throughout PeaceHealth.
Exercise good judgment in independently making quick and accurate decisions in the support of HID projects.
Prioritize tasks effectively so as to operate in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
Bachelor's degree in MIS or Computer Science related field. Proven experience and/or certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE/TRAINING (REQUIRED):
Six years of production Oracle/SQL Server RDBMS administration experience.
Ability to facilitate discussion, to teach, and to train concepts related to data retrieval, data analysis, data integrity, and analytical information systems in RDBMS environments.
Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and project management applications required.
Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and PeaceHealth entities.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, both oral and written, are required.
Must be willing to learn a variety of healthcare improvement tools and methodologies.
Ability to cope with multiple demands and extremely precise, detailed, and confidential work.
Vendor coordination and facilitation skills.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively.
Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Outstanding customer service orientation with focus on treating all persons with respect and dignity. EXPERIENCE/TRAINING (PREFERRED):
Oracle 10g/11g Database Administration; including RMAN, Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control/Cloud Control, Disaster Recovery, Active Data Guard, RAC, ASM, Oracle Flashback Technology, query tuning and optimization, Oracle Text, and Oracle Names Server.
Experience with PL/SQL scripting.
Familiar with UNIX, Linux, and Windows in the context of Oracle administration.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 Database Administration; including backup/recovery, security, database mirroring/snapshots, replication, and utilities such as bcp and sqlcmd.
Experience with T-SQL scripting.
Healthcare information systems development and implementation experience.
Familiar with healthcare data types and their meanings.
Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional or Master.
Microsoft certification on SQL Server administration.
Experience with InterSystems Caché post-relational database administration.
Experience with RDBMS architecture and design.
Experience with Lawson and/or Epic Systems applications.
Familiar with Windows administration concepts such as clustering, Active Directory, and NTFS security.
