This is an entry level position for recent graduates involving the planning, designing, monitoring and/or managing of construction projects. Knowledge of technical and administrative aspects of all phases of project management, including management of information systems used to develop construction projects and preparation of engineering design plans; all related codes, guidelines and regulations necessary for a variety of civil engineering projects; how to facilitate and communicate in a construction environment; and extensive experience with computer-assisted design/drafting program software is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the planning, designing, monitoring and/or managing of construction projects and serve as a technical consultant concerning project planning, design, and construction.
Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in making adaptations and modifications to assigned aspects of construction projects.
Assist in the evaluation of contract bids, make recommendations to higher-level engineers and assist in the management of large-scale construction projects
Responds to inquiries from agencies and the public and provides information pertaining to the status of projects
Coordinates schedules of staff and sub-contractors for projects
Regular visits to the field will be required to verify completed and remaining quantities, to monitor project progress, and ensure projects are within time and budget requirements.
Will work with sub-contractors, state offices, inspectors and other regulating agencies to ensure customer satisfaction.
Must be able to interpret regulations and be able to communicate with others; read detailed blueprints; establish and maintain effective working relationships with sub-contractors, builders and the general public; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; operate computers using standard word processing, spreadsheet, as well as related civil engineering and architectural software; and understand and apply related federal, state and city regulations to projects as required.
Attends and participates in project review and pre-construction meetings
