Department of Speech Communication
The Department of Speech Communication at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) is inviting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin work in our department, August 2013. The ideal candidate should be a strong scholar whose research agenda and pedagogical interests focus on applied communication in conflict management. We are particularly interested in conflict management as used to construct better social worlds and to improve communication as a practice.
Located in the College of Professional Studies, the Department of Speech Communication emphasizes an applied approach to the study of communication in both graduate and undergraduate degree programs. The department has 10 full-time faculty members and approximately 70 undergraduate majors and 40 graduate students in its program. The Department of Speech Communication has been selected for the university's highest honor, Department of Excellence, recognizing university-wide achievement in teaching, research, and professional service. The successful candidate will have a strong teaching record and a promising program of research; be willing to teach a variety of courses within our curriculum in a traditional and online format; and have experience and/or a desire to engage in professional service activities in the community.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Communication (or completion of all requirements before employment commences).
