Drives truck to transport materials to and from specified destinations by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Verifies load against shipping papers.
Drives truck to multiple destinations.
Prepares receipts for load picked up.
Maintains drivers log of duty status according to state and federal DOT regulations unless operating under the 100 air mile radius exemption.
Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
Loads and unloads the truck as directed by supervisor. May be required to operate a forklift and/or a HIAB (boom) crane.
Communicates with customers at delivery site.
Performs DOT pre and post trip vehicle inspections according to company standards. Checks entire vehicle to ensure safe operation.
Performs repairs as directed by supervisor such as installing light bulbs, fuses, replacing windshield wipers, etc.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position may direct the work of a driver assistant during deliveries.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Less than high school education and one year related experience or training. Must be able to operate basic truck types, such as a straight truck.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Must have a Class A Drivers License, and a driving record in compliance with company standards.
