Massachusetts Specialty Foods distibutor seeking a experienced, wholesale distribution Buyer who is talented, driven and ready for a new challenge in a fast paced, growth oriented company. The Buyer will work as a member of our Purchasing Team and will be responsible for procuring a dynamic portfolio of Natural and Specialty Foods. They will negotiate deals with vendors, integrate new vendors, use a take charge approach, develop strong vendor relationships that command attention and achieve results.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage inventories of assigned suppliers to ensure target service levels, margins and turns are achieved.
Develop and manage supplier relationships for assigned vendors. Ensure vendors comply with agreed upon supply terms. Seek opportunities for future growth and success.
Integrate new vendors to company; Set up new items and suppliers in accordance with company programs
Ensure all negotiated promotional programs with vendors are achieved and promotional programs are completed on time
Perform category analysis, forecast needs based on seasonality and demand
Utilize system reports to analyze results and identify opportunities for increased sales and profit
Maintain vendor files with current price lists, promotional schedules, product information and other pertinent correspondence.
Generate and confirm purchase orders. Process returns and bill backs.
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree or 5-7 years experience in a buying position ideally in wholesale or retail distribution.
Able to work independently and be self-motivated.
Experienced in Microsoft Outlook, and advanced level Excel skills
Microsoft Access database experience a plus.
Strong organizational, analytical and mathematical skills.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently, see tasks and projects to completion
Strong decision making and problem solving skills
ERP software understanding and knowledge a plus
Must be customer focused and have the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy
Demonstrates A sense of urgency and be able to work under tight deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience and interest in specialty and natural food products is helpful.
