include performing initial activity therapy assessments, identifying
problem areas and developing appropriate treatment goals. Facilitates
3-4 groups a day, completing group documentation and communicating
with other members of the treatment team via treatment planning, team
meetings or other means. Responsible for providing education through
both formal and informal means to ensure that therapeutic group
facilitation is effective in teaching positive coping skills and is
appropriate in its delivery. Responsible for maintaining accurate and
Direct Patient Involvement: Facilitation of Groups based on
problems identified during the assessment and treatment planning
process. The Art/Expressive Therapist will facilitate a variety of
groups designed to address the needs of the patients. A minimum of
two groups must be facilitated per day by each group therapist.
Participates in unit staff meetings to identify and help solve
problems for the current area of service. The Art/Expressive
Therapist will also act as a liaison between the clinical units and

Responsible for completing a therapeutic activity assessment on each
assigned patient within 72 hours of admission. Art/Expressive
Therapist will oversee the completion of the Therapist section of
each treatment team within 72 hours of admission. Completion of group
notes for each group facilitated by the Art/Expressive Therapist must
be completed that same day.
Art/Expressive Therapist will
engage in weekly supervision with the Director to discuss and improve
current therapeutic groups, increase leadership skills and develop

with Masters degree and appropriate credentials. Recreational Therapy
(CTRS) Bachelor’s degree with appropriate credentials. (OT/R
Experience: Two years
related experience preferred. CPR certified.
Technical Skills: Ability to communicate
effectively through spoken word and in writing.
Age and Disability: Must possess knowledge
and skills necessary to interact compassionately and appropriately
with patients and their families on a regular basis.
Other: The Therapist must be able to
demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care
appropriate to the age of the patients. The individual must
demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development
over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of
the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information
needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his
or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as
described in the unit’s/area’s/department’s
policies and procedures. Required to work weekends, as well as
weekdays and some holidays.
