More Than Words (MTW) is a nonprofit social enterprise - cafÃ©, online and retail used bookstore - that employs youth, ages 16-21, who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business. By working as a team to manage their own retail and online used book business, cafÃ©, and community space, youth develop the employment skills, leadership, and self-confidence they need to successfully transition to adulthood. In addition to store-based job training, youth are engaged in personal transition planning to support their progress towards employment and higher education.

It is launching replication plans to open a 2nd site and seeks a creative, highly motivated, and detail-oriented manager to train and lead a team of 5-6 youth employees on shift. The Online Bookstore Manager oversees all aspects of the online businesses including maximizing profitability, training, inventory management, marketing, and events. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Online Bookstore Manager will: Oversee Shifts in order to meet Financial Goals: - Lead a shift of 5-6 youth to ensure the success of all online business operations: customer service, inventory management, order processing, business projects & events and other activities as required.
Provide Administrative and Strategic Leadership: - Meet regularly with and participate as a member of the MTW management team, helping to improve all operations, program management and strategic planning - Work with youth and staff to support weekly Team meeting with all members of MTW - Lead recruitment, training and integration of volunteers into MTW operations - Support operations training including manual updates and schedule coordination with Management Team The manager must be a high-energy person who enjoys teaching others, hitting goals, and working in a fast-paced environment during day, evening and/or weekend hours. The ideal candidate will have: - S/he should have successful experience teaching, training or supervising new learners, and a talent for empowering and engaging others to work together to achieve goals. - Retail and/or Online Bookstore business experience and a proven ability to inspire and compel others to exceed expectations. - Exceptional communication and sensitivity for MTW's diverse constituencies.
- Continually monitor and improve systems to meet earned revenue benchmarks for the online operations. - Oversee all safety, policies and procedures to open and/or close the online operations on specific days. Train Youth Employees: - Work alongside youth to provide ongoing training, feedback and support for youth to improve performance in the online bookstore business operations. - Hold youth employees accountable for all safety, policies and performance including attendance, punctuality, professionalism and efficiency with tasks on shift.
- Great customer-service, technological aptitude and a willingness to be accountable for the business are keys success! Candidate must be able to regularly lift boxes weighing approximately 25 lbs., move easily up and down stairs and possess a valid id. Salary commensurate with experience.
