WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
HIMCO is currently seeking an Investment Information Data Analyst / Senior Investment Information Data Analyst to join our Data Management Group. This individual will report to the manager of the Data Integrity Group.
DATA INTEGRITY GROUP BACKGROUND:
The Data Integrity Group, part of the larger Middle Office Group, ensures and improves the accuracy, timeliness, consistency and completeness of security-level to enterprise-wide data. Data control and integrity oversight applies to information ultimately used in making investment decisions, transacting securities, exercising compliance and controls over investment processes, and communicating portfolio and holdings information to internal and external clients. This information includes security reference, derived, fundamental, and analytical or market data.
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?
This is a highly visible position. Successful incumbents will be responsible for:
Providing front-line quality assurance and controls for data used in the investment management process as well as for executive, portfolio management, mutual fund and client reporting.
Modeling security masters on new or existing investments in a timely and accurate manner. Covers the entire spectrum of fixed income securities including investment grade and high yield bonds, mortgage-backed securities, CMBS, ABS, municipals, emerging markets, private placements, non-dollar, whole loans, agricultural loans, bank loans, as well as equities.
Reviewing daily data integrity reports and reconciliations; performing periodic asset scrubs to maintain the accuracy and integrity of security master data.
Partnering with other areas of HIMCO on projects and new product initiatives.
Modify existing and periodically create new controls and procedures to mitigate risk and increase efficiency.
Trouble shoot data issues by working with traders, analysts, PMs, compliance, operations, marketing, vendors, etc.
Qualified candidates will have the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems, Mathematics, Finance or
High degree of initiative and intellectual curiosity, especially in Investments.
Highly proficient in Excel. Experience with relational databases, querying languages, VBA and report automation is a plus.
Exceptional analytical skills, strong oral and written communications skills, meticulous and detail-oriented.
Must be a team player, problem solver, critical thinker, self-motivated and possess integrity and a strong work ethic.
Ability to work independently on concurrent tasks and adhere to deadlines.
Able to easily adapt to changing priorities.
Able to meet high expectations for precision and accuracy.
Must be highly organized and have a hunger to learn.
CFA or CFA candidate is a plus.
