We have an immediate need for a USNR Psychological Health Outreach Team Member whose essential job duties include:

Supports the Navy Reserve Component Command (RCC) within designated region as part of the US Navy Reserve Psychological Health Outreach Program. The goals for this program are: 1) to create a Psychological Health (PH) “safety net” for US Navy Reservists and their families, who are at risk for not having their stress injuries identified and treated in an expeditious manner; 2) to improve the overall PH of US Navy Reservists and their families; and 3) to identify long-term strategies to improve PH support services for Reservists and their families.

Coordinate all activities with the regional PH Outreach Coordinators.

Provide an outreach visit to each major Naval Operational Support Center (NOSC), as determined by BUMED, by at least one Team member not less than once per year of contract performance. At each NOSC, provide psychological health outreach and educational/training services to NOSC staff and US Navy Reserve service members. Assess unit members to detect possible stress injuries using appropriate Behavioral Health Screening tools, and assist members identified as needing referrals to get the necessary follow on care.

Provide outreach services to larger Reserve populations identified as being at risk for psychological health issues. Assess unit members to detect possible stress injuries using appropriate psychological health screening tools, and assist members identified as needing referrals to get the necessary follow on care.

Provide psychological support and assessment of Reservists and their family members who experience psychological trauma as a result of a natural disaster (such as Hurricane Katrina) or terrorist attack or other full scale emergency.

Advertise services provided through Psychological Health Outreach Team.

Maintain an after-hours phone/email service to respond to communications from clients.

Help distribute brochures and additional marketing material to advertise US Navy Psychological Health Outreach Program, providing a description of the services and contact information for each outreach coordinator and team member.

Required Skills

Group coordination and organizational skills.

Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of the field.

Understanding of the military culture and stressors associated with wartime deployment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

A wide degree of creativity is expected.

Ability to successfully pass a Criminal History Background Check

Required Experience

Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Possess at minimum a Master’s degree in social work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education OR a Master's that meets LPC, LMHC PR LMFT qualifications.

Must possess and maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
