The Best Practices Analyst will report to the Head of Best Practices and will be responsible for supporting continuous improvement efforts at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) that are aimed at attaining customer-focused excellence in operations. Efforts will include process improvements to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with the PPPL mission, goals, and objectives and that are integrated with the Baldrige Quality Award framework and criteria and APQC Process Classification Framework. Under general direction, this position will apply a solid understanding of applicable business systems and requirements to formulate and define systems and processes with scopes and objectives that are based on user needs. Job activities will include planning and supporting improvement initiatives that involve all PPPL Departments.

Essential Qualifications

Qualifications include: A college degree is required preferably in Industrial Engineering, Business. A minimum of five years of experience related to process improvement and associated activities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively interact with all levels within the organization are required. Demonstrated experience adapting to multiple and changing priorities and achieving results within a compressed time frame. Must have the ability to develop and administer surveys; and experience applying problem solving, process improvement, and system re-engineering methods and applying quality management and improvement principles. Demonstrated proficiency with process mapping, flowcharting software, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and knowledge of statistics. An MBA or MS/PhD in Industrial Engineering, and Industry-recognized certification such as Six Sigma Black Belt, NIST Baldrige Quality Award Examiner, Business Analysis are a plus. Experience in a research and development facility is desired.
