Role Description We are hiring a marketing manager to help conceptualize and execute Basho marketing programs and content. You should be a marketing generalist with experience in messaging, technical writing, content for blogs and websites, and event coordination and management. You will work with the marketing and product teams to come up with interesting and engaging lead generation and education campaigns, support community outreach efforts including meetups and conferences, and create high-level technical content.

You will also support partner and customer marketing efforts including awareness and education of integrations, platform launches and interesting use cases. This is an exciting and broad role that will work with both internal and external parties to significantly expand adoption of our open source products, drive new leads, and work with existing customers and users to tell their stories. Our marketing department is a flat, collaborative team focused on being honest, accessible and educational; experimenting to find what works and what doesn ’t; and driving key business metrics like open source adoption and lead generation. Responsibilities •Working with Basho ’s engineering and marketing teams to create technical content for online and print platforms •Developing and tracking interesting lead generation campaigns •Coordinating opportunities for Basho employees, partners and customers to tell their stories in press, blogs, webcasts and speaking appearances •Talking to Basho customers, finding the interesting stories in their implementations and writing case studies that are applicable to a larger audience •Assisting with preparing and executing launches for new products, releases and partner integrations •Creating and editing a variety of marketing material including newsletters and emails, presentations, blog posts, white papers and technical briefs Requirements •2+ years in a technical marketing position, executing online and event campaigns; experience in the storage, NoSQL, database, cloud and/or infrastructure space preferred •BA in communications or related field / equivalent experience •Proven success driving lead generation with interesting, educational campaigns •Technical writing background, ability to tell difficult technology stories in ways that are interesting and understandable to a broad audience •Experience in writing technology-focused web copy, including articles, blogs and website content (must provide samples) •Detail-oriented execution and strategic thinking •Experience using Salesforce, Marketo, Google Analytics and/or related software •Experience creating technical documentation strongly preferred Bonus •Technical skills in building HTML websites, simple web apps, or using APIs •Engineering or computer science training Location San Francisco, CA or Bay Area and able to travel to SF offices 2-3 times per week Available for occasional travel to industry and analyst events
