COMPUTER SCIENCE. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at East Central University (ECU) is seeking qualified applicants for an assistant professor position, tenure track if eligible, in the Computer Science program beginning in August, 2013.
ECU is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-five undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences; and nine master's degrees in education, human resources, and psychology. ECU's 4,800 students come from 40 countries and 35 different states. About 65% of the 172 faculty hold doctorates.
REQUIREMENTS: The department seeks candidates with an earned doctorate in computer science or related field, but an M.S. and/or ABD may be considered. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to quality teaching, scholarship and service. Further, candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills. Finally, candidates should have strong programming skills using high-level programming languages such as Java and C++, in a Unix/Linux computing system.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (a) teaching 12 hours per semester; (b) engaging in scholarship and service; (c) advising computer science majors; (d) serving on departmental and university committees and; (e) maintaining office hours for students.
