LPP, STEP, and CSTEP are New York State grant-funded initiatives. The counselor will work with students (grades 6-12) of the Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) and the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) as well as college students in the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP). The counselor will work with local school counselors to identify students considered at-risk of dropping out of school. The counselor will also be responsible for regularly scheduled student meetings, administering workshops and student programs in areas including science and technology. The counselor will also maintain accurate and up-to-date student program files, collect program expenses, and maintain records for the mid-year and final reports. In addition to collaborating very closely with fellow staff members, the counselor will work with students, parents and faculty as well as personnel of various external institutions on a regular basis. The counselor will also assist with student orientations and recognition ceremonies, college tours and student conferences as well as student-centered programs during the fall, spring and summer terms and other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Project Director.

Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelor degree is required. The candidate should also have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in developing and administering student programming. Strong organizational skills and attention to details are essential in this position. Demonstrated collaborative skills and student management skills are required. Strong verbal and written communications skills are also required. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
