Local Akron Consulting Firm is seeking a Curtain Wall Designer to add to their staff.
Position Requirements Include:
A B.S.C.E., B.A. or B.S. degree in Architecture and 5 -- 10 years experience OR an Associates Degree in Architecture with 10 -- 15 years experience and competency as Senior Technician
Experience as a systems designer and detailer
Able to apply knowledge of systems design to develop systems or solve problems
Can design basic systems from customer concept or develop systems from architect's intent
Can lead detailing team on routine as well as complex projects
Know the budgeted time per task (i.e. per sheet or detail) and the team drafting progress compared to budget
Know the project's priorities and make sure team is working on the highest priorities as necessary
Make sure that changes are carried out to all effected elevations and details
Determine the order and layout of elevations in the shop drawings set and assign elevations and details to team members
Make sure all parts are anchored (attached) and indicated on elevations
Assist Project Manager in writing RFIs, initiating team meetings and checking fabrication drawings
Can advise architects, owner, or related clients on all matters related to exterior cladding systems
Check system for air/water integrity
Can solve routine and increasing complex system design problems and provide workable solutions
Detail difficult conditions, Lay out difficult geometric areas of buildings
Understand how to handle discrepancies in contract documents
Modify drawings as red-marked by another team member
Know the budgeted time per sheet or per detail and keep track of own progress
Follow in-house or customer drafting standards
Check own plot of drawings before giving them to the Team Leader or Project Manager and mark in red anything that is in question
Able to follow seal lines and ensure system air/water integrity
Able to design and lay-out deadload/windload connections
Able to design anchor details
Design for system movements due to thermal, live-load and dead-load
Input final tags on elevations while drawing individual fabrication drawings
Compensation: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour.
