This person will sell polymer machinery, systems and services by calling on customers (engineers / purchasing agents) at their facilities. This Sales Engineer will prepare cost estimates and proposals based on the requirements of the customer. They will also negotiate terms of the purchase contract for equipment including terms of the sale. The Sales Engineer will also assist in preparing sales and service contracts for products or services and communicate the sales order requirements to the Sales Manager.
The Sales Engineer will insure that all orders and other customer communications are promptly and accurately handled to improve customer satisfaction. The Sales Engineer can also propose changes to equipment, processes or use of materials or services, which would result in cost reduction or improvement in operations. In addition, this person will check on market developments, industry trends and competitor activity and provide this information for input into sales strategic planning.
The Sales Engineer will provide technical services to customers relating to use, operation and maintenance of equipment along with assisting with start-up of machinery including technical training. Attending trade shows and representing the company at association meetings is another requirement of the Sales Engineer.
Candidate must have either a BS Mechanical Engineering or BS Chemical Engineering with at least 5 years of selling to end users. Ideally, prior experience should contain knowledge of polymer processing or at least sales of large capital equipment. Travel requirement is up to 30%. 90% of that travel will be international and would require being on the road up to 3 - 4 weeks at a time.
