Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful candidate, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy.

The Project Manager position will report to the Fleet Emergency Preparedness (EP) Project and Program Manager and is responsible for the management of all phases of emergency preparedness project planning and execution to ensure all project success factors are met, including but not limited to scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration. This position typically is assigned to projects of size and complexity up to the following profile: potentially greater than 36 months in duration, generally less than $100 million and with a high level of complexity potentially impacting the legal entity or the entire Company. The Project Manager may be responsible for managing a large number of projects, concurrently. Providing proactive leadership that fosters good communications, collaboration and integration with appropriate internal and external stakeholder organizations and processes. Serves as the unifying agent providing leadership, management, direction, coordination, and control of the overall project in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements of Duke Energy.

Qualifications

:

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (Area of specialization: Project Management, Business, Technical, or Engineering)

Previous Nuclear Power Plant Experience – Three to Five years

Qualified ERO member or the ability to become qualified

3-5 years project management work-related experience

Experience in conflict resolution and negotiating successful outcomes on complex issues including negotiating effective agreements with external stakeholder groups.

Experience in managing multiple project activities among consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Experience in establishing and leading multi-skilled teams providing direction and oversight on complex projects.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (Area of specialization: Project Management, Business, Technical, or Engineering)

Previous Nuclear Power Plant Experience – Five to Seven years

5 -7 years project management work-related experience

Three Years EP-related project management work-related experience

Professional Project Manager certification

Proven self-starter, results-oriented, and requiring no supervision to take charge and get things done

Intuitive skills to identify and discern issues that are important to the corporation and that could positively or negatively affect ability to achieve corporate objectives

Working knowledge of NUREG 0654

Working knowledge of 10CFR50.47b

Working knowledge of Appendix E

Working knowledge of ETQS Standard 7111.0

Working knowledge of New EP Final Rulemaking
