DESIGNER – MECHANICAL

Under direct supervision, the Designer independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. With additional experience within mechanical design, the incumbent assists in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations and surveys with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.

This position is located in Manati, Puerto Rico.

RESPONSIBILITES

·

Produce Material Take Off’s, piping arrangements, isometrics, and other design package documents

·

Review and/or check vendor and sub-contractor documents, drawings and P&ID’s for errors, suitability for purpose, compliance with codes and good engineering practice

·

Produce and analyze P&ID's following pipe process requirements and clients pipe specifications

·

Place instrumentation in pipe using criteria for operational requirements from instrumentation data sheet and company standards

·

Review piping systems for safety using company and industry standards & regulations

·

Assistance to mechanical contractor during construction

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

·

5+ years design/drafting experience in pipe design in chemical plant layout

·

Experience in PDMS 3D modeling is a plus

·

Demonstrated ability to work with 2D Draft software (AutoCAD & Microstation)

·

Must possess sound mechanical aptitude/understanding of equipment and instrumentation

·

MS Office skills including Word and Excel

·

Ability to work and produce with minimum supervision

·

Good communication skills (both oral and written)

·

Good organizational skills

·

Ability to work in a team environment

·

Ability to work to time constraints and schedules, and meet tight deadlines

·

Bilingual (English and Spanish)
