Williams is an energy infrastructure company focused on connecting North America’s significant hydrocarbon resource plays to growing markets for natural gas, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and olefins. The Industrial Hygiene Intern will assist the Williams Enterprise Industrial Hygiene department in achieving annual sampling requirements. They will conduct sampling at various field assets throughout the respective regions. Sampling may consist of benzene, toluene, xylene (BTX), asbestos, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM), noise, and others. However, primary emphasis will be on benzene sampling and personal noise dosimetry. There may be opportunities for the interns to be involved with additional safety or environmental projects depending on local needs and the breadth of the internship.
The intern position will be based out of field operations locations in Moon Township, PA (Pittsburgh), or Houston, TX. Exact office locations are somewhat flexible, depending on the candidates’ current proximity to the area; however the interns will report directly to the Enterprise Industrial Hygiene department in Tulsa, OK under the supervision of a Certified Industrial Hygienist.
Travel will be required approximately 50-75% of the time, depending on the base location. All travel-related expenses will be reimbursed.
Skills and Qualifications: Qualified individuals will most likely be enrolled in graduate-level industrial hygiene program or currently hold a master of science in industrial hygiene. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and have good communication and interpersonal skills. Additionally, the candidates must be medically fit and able to wear air-purifying, negative-pressure respirator as needed. Must be willing to work evenings and / or weekends as needed due to weather or operating conditions.
Candidates should be familiar with Microsoft Office Products and have the ability to learn IH database software. Candidates with a minimum 3.0 GPA, work experience and / or leadership positions will be given preference.
