The Health Care Reform Strategist will develop a framework for Lincoln Financial's Group Protection Division; corporate benefit function; and any other impacted Lincoln businesses through which to assess the impact of health care reform. For Group Protection, the incumbent will develop likely scenarios among brokers, employers and employees, and competitors for the development, sale, service and ongoing support of our product lines based upon potential impacts of Health Care Reform and the health care environment. Working with GP and corporate business areas, the incumbent will determine potential responses that we should develop to these scenarios and assist in determining plans of action.
Job Requirements Coordinate internal and external resources to gather information and synthesize information relevant to the impact of HCR and health care delivery and economics on Lincoln 's Group business and, secondarily, on Lincoln as a business. Manage consultants, outside resources, trade association relationships that provide insight into HCR evolution and impacts. Provide thought leadership to senior management and operating areas on the potential impacts of HCR and health delivery. Facilitate sessions blending experts; operating management; senior leaders; distribution to create scenarios of how health care changes might impact our environment; develop response to these scenarios and help to create operating plans to implement the Lincoln response. Support Strategic planning in GP. Develop action plans cooperatively with product, distribution and operations to position products and services that will allow GP to grow profitably under various health care scenarios. Help to understand exchanges and other alternative benefit distribution mechanisms and develop strategies to sell our products. Create alternative scenarios for health care reform and changes to the medical benefit market linking these back to our products and services. Refresh these over time. Work with trade associations, lobbyists and others to assess the likelihood of various scenarios. Additional Details Bachelors required; Masters preferred. At least 7 years experience as a benefit manager, benefit broker or similar capacity of a medium size employer. Must have significant experience with health and ancillary benefits. Able to work with both senior management and operational teams. Execution focus. Strong working knowledge of health benefits; health delivery and expense trends; ancillary benefits; and health care reform. Practical understanding of health care reform and an excellent understanding of how a holistic benefit program supports an employer and meets employee needs. Ability to read, understand and translate into tactical action plan all changes to law and similar guidance by regulatory authoritie s. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals. Ability to read and interpret documents such as corporate policies and procedures. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Strong written and verbal skills that enable drafting of business cases for Sr. management. Excellent presentation skills that lead to ability to draft and explain power point decks to Sr. management to support recommended approach or business case Ability to communicate and present information to various internal and external audiences up to and including senior management.
