The Career Coach is the primary point of contact with the youth participants and others in the participant’s circle of influence. The Career Coach will recruit for the program, as well as, seek employment and educational opportunities as the participants complete the program. The Career Coach must display initiative, exercise judgment and make decisions that are consistent with program goals. Major job components include, but are not limited to; Outreach/Recruitment, Assessment/Eligibility, Case Management, Career Coaching, Job Development, Data and paperwork management. The Career Coach may be required to deliver skills training in computer assembly when applicable, software applications, work readiness skills, and the development of basic remedial skills in math and reading. The Career Coach will attend/conduct activities in the community relating to youth development. The Career Coach will connect with employers and community organizations on a frequent basis to market and enrich the program and the success of the participants. The Career Coach will monitor progress and quality of the work completed by participants and document findings through H&M/Workforce (WIA) paperwork, database MIS data input (when permitted) and other appropriate means. The Career Coach must have well developed presentation and facilitation skills to engage students in meeting program goals .

Major Job Elements :
Outreach, recruitment, assess and determine eligibility of participants per project plan. Assist program participants in reaching goals established in their ISS. Meet contractual obligations regarding defined positive outcomes and retention measures and follow-up. Maintain case records detailing service needs and activities/arrangements for their fulfillment, according to data-management procedures established by program management and the funding sources. Facilitate additional participant training in a computer labs or through workshops. Provide assessment of youth and make enrollment recommendations. Manage and complete paperwork on time with accuracy. Assist in establishing linkages with other community service related agencies. Case follow up and documentation for students who have exited the program. Provide input to project coordinator and make recommendations for improvements to program. Input data, as appropriate, in the MIS system. Develop Employment / Internship opportunities. Place students in Employment / Internship opportunities. This job is approximately 80% paperwork/ 20% working with youth. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :
Required
Past experience working with the targeted population (youth). 2+ years relevant work experience. Drug free, clear background check relevant to working with young adults. Experience with at-risk youth, particularly in workforce, employment and training. Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications. Must have demonstrated proficiency in MIS, VOS (Virtual One Stop System) or other online database tracking systems. Reliable ability to travel throughout the assigned area of 35 mile radius. Excellent documentation skills required. Experience using verbal and written communication skills effectively. Must have the ability to efficiently manage a large participant caseload (Active and Follow-up) in a fast pace environment. Must have the ability to work independently of central office or direct management support. Ability to maintain a leadership role with the students to motivate and influence positive behaviors Knowledge and/ or experience with classroom management techniques. Must have the ability to deliver program curriculum/objectives in classroom/simulated workplace environment including well developed presentation and facilitation skills to engage students to meet program goals. Must have the ability to input participant data (WIA, financial, etc) reliably into the appropriate MIS system. Must have the ability to identify and recruit target population of clients and employers. Preferred
Bachelor degree preferred. Degree in social services, counseling, or education preferred. Professional experience in Counseling, education or Workforce Investment Act preferred. CDF (Career Development Facilitator) certification preferred. Hardware knowledge (XP) a plus. Case management experience preferred.
